The traditional agribusiness company has navigated financial markets to become competitive in power generation
Founded in 1860, MSU has left its mark in Argentina’s agriculture and fishery sectors. But in a quest to diversify, the company decided it was time to bet on infrastructure, leading to the creation of MSU Energy.
“We did the whole process of due diligence on the entire value chain of energy and we decided that we wanted to be in power generation,” says Hernan Walker, CFO of MSU Energy.
MSU decided to venture into the thermal power sector, pairing up with GE as the EPC company, to bid in Argentina’s thermal power capacity auction in 2016.
The company secured 10-year power purchas
