Nicaragua enjoyed year-on-year GDP growth of 5.5% through the end of June, according to data from Trading Economics. The good economic news spilled over to the Central American country’s financial services sector.Banco Lafise Bancentro did especially well, performing above its peers in growth and capital deployment.
Its asset base grew 20% year-on-year at the end of 2016, well ahead of rival Banco de la Produción, which recorded 10% growth in assets over the same period.
The bank also achieved a 24.5% return on equity at July 2017, comfortably above the 20.45% average across Nicaragua’s banking industry, CFO Justo Montenegro says.
