Influence is difficult to measure, but we venture to do so in our list of the 50 most important people in Latin America. Leaders with region-wide influence and power, whether political or economic, hold the highest positions on the list. While not neglecting billionaires, captains of industry and presidents, we include a healthy dose of media moguls, movie directors and writers who shape opinion throughout the region.
