Government-owned copper miner readies plan for talks with lithium producers about the state’s new role steering the industry

Chile's state-run copper company Codelco said talks with lithium producers about a new model for public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the industry will get underway in the coming days, according to local press reports.  Codelco chairman Máximo Pacheco told reporters that the company is ready start negotiations with local chemical and mining company Sociedad Química y Minera (SQM) about new rules for producing and exporting lithium. He added that he expects to reach a deal by the end of the year
