Argentina gets funds for education, river defenses

Argentina's government said Wednesday that it took out loans from two development banks to invest in public education and shore up the embankments of a major river in the north of the country. The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), a division of the World Bank, will provide $300 million for a project to reduce dropout rates among low-income students in secondary and higher education, including through scholarships.
