IDB Invest, the private sector affiliate of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), said it provided a 10-year, $70 million loan for pharmaceutical company Megalabs to produce "essential medicines" for the elderly. Megalabs plans to use the financing to purchase new machinery and equipment as well expand its existing pharmaceutical plants, IDB Invest said in a press release on Friday.
