US-based private equity firm Apex Capital said it raised $300 million for its first fund, Apex Capital Core Fund I, with plans to invest consumer goods businesses in Latin America and the Hispanic market in the United States. Apex is owned by Guatemala's Grupo Mariposa, a conglomerate that owns the Central American Bottling Corporation (CBC), soft drinks company Beliv and food industry investment firm Bia.
