Brazil's national development bank BNDES said its board of directors unanimously approved the appointment of Aloízio Mercadante as CEO on Wednesday. Mercadante was one of the founders of the Workers' Party, or PT, in 1980, alongside President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He held various positions in the cabinet of former President Dilma Rousseff, including chief of staff in 2014 and 2015.
