Mexican cement producer Cemex said its US subsidiary signed a deal to buy a quarry and port operations in Newfoundland, Canada, to expand its aggregates business.  Cemex USA agreed to buy the assets from Atlantic Minerals for an undisclosed sum, according to a press release. The deal will secure supplies of construction and chemical aggregates for Cemex's operations in Florida and the East Coast of the United States while providing a source of chemical grade stone, it said.
