Citibanamex, the Mexican consumer banking business of US financial services firm Citi, could be sold through an initial public offering (IPO) sometime next year, Citi CFO Mark Mason was quoted as saying in press reports.
"Mexico is a very important franchise for us, and we are focused on that," Mason reportedly said at an investor conference organized by Barclays. "We're going to make sure we get the best value for it through a sale or through an alternative exit, an IPO or whatever it takes."
