The International Finance Corporation (IFC) said Friday that it granted a $45 million loan for Ecuadorean shrimp farmer Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila to increase production for export.
Santa Priscila will use the funding to replace diesel power with electricity, expand the number of farms and improve automation, IFC said in a press release.
The money will only go to farms that adhere to standards from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), it added.
