Darling Ingredients, a US-based maker of sustainable food, feed and fuel ingredients from waste, said Thursday that it agreed to buy FASA Group, the biggest rendering company in Brazil, for BRL2.8 billion ($551 million) in cash.
Irving, Texas-based Darling Ingredients reached the deal with a unit of Inversiones Nutravalor, a Chilean producer of food as well as fish meal and oil, the latter said in a securities filing.
Both companies said they expect the deal to close by the end of this year.
