Foreign investment in Mexico increased by 63.7% year-on-year to $19.4 billion in the first quarter, lifted by the merger of local mass media company Televisa and its US counterpart Univision and investments in airline Aeroméxico, according to figures from the finance ministry.
Televisa and Univision tied up a $4.8 billion merger to form TelevisaUnivision on February 1. The new company has since struck a deal to buy US Spanish-language streaming service Pantaya.
