Brazilian Central Bank Governor Roberto Campos Neto said on Thursday that he expects stablecoins, or cryptocurrencies linked to a stable asset like the US dollar, will grow over time in Brazil as the use of digital payments and transfers increases.
Demand is rising for payment systems that are faster than current systems as well as open, secure and transparent, a first step for the growth of stablecoins, he said during a chat hosted by the Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
