Mexican development bank Banobras and Nacional Financiera (Nafin) have granted MXN700 million ($35.2 million) in financing for the consortium Lumat Tramo 1 to build the first section of the Tren Maya railroad in the Yucatán Peninsula.
According to the terms of the public works contract, the consortium will build a 227km railway between the cities of Palenque in the state of Chiapas to Escárcega in the state of Campeche.
