The government of Belize has asked creditors to extend a grace period on its 4.938% 2034 bonds until September 19, but bondholders have not yet considered the proposal, a source close to the matter told LatinFinance on Thursday.
Belize entered a 30-day grace period after it missed a $7 million coupon payment on the $553 million in outstanding bonds on Thursday and gave bondholders until June 1 to agree to the extended delay.
