World Bank funds vaccines in Ecuador

The World Bank has approved $150 million in additional financing for Ecuador to buy and distribute COVID-19 vaccines, the Washington DC-based multilateral lender said in a press release. "This is the first World Bank-financed operation in Latin America and the Caribbean for COVID-19 vaccine procurement," the bank added. The Ecuadorian government plans to use the money to buy vaccines to immunize around 30% of the population and purchase more personal protective equipment for healthcare workers,
