Holders of Belize's sovereign bonds have formed a committee and scheduled a conference call for Friday after the government announced last week that it wanted to restructure a so-called superbond that matures in 2034.
The government, led by Prime Minister Johnny Briceño of the People's United Party (PUP), plans to restructure the bonds as part of a plan to restore fiscal sustainability, although it admitted that its debt-to-GDP ratio will likely remain above 100% until 2026.
