Costa Rica has secured $1.78 billion in financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to support an economic recovery and stabilize the economy, according to a press release from the multilateral lender on Monday.
Costa Rica will receive an immediate disbursement of $297 million through the three-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which is equal to 335% of Costa Rica's special drawing rights, or SDRs, the IMF said.
