Argentina insists on flexibility to pay IMF

Argentina wants more flexible conditions to pay the $45 billion it owes the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Central Bank Gov. Miguel Ángel Pesce said Wednesday, as the government seeks to reach a deal on a new loan program with the multilateral lender by the end of the year. "We must adapt the terms and interest rates of the volumes of assistance that IMF's member countries may require, especially developing countries," Pesce said at the 2021 Monetary and Banking Conference in Buenos Aires.
