Chilean President Sebastián Piñera said Friday that he has named Mario Marcel to a second term as governor of the central bank, lauding his first five-year term for sustaining economic stability even during protests in late 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year and a half.
Marcel, who began his first five-year term in December 2016, will continue in his position for another five years from this December, according to a statement by the president.
