Chilean President Sebastián Piñera said Tuesday that he has appointed Rodrigo Cerda as finance minister to replace Ignacio Briones, who stepped down to run for president in elections later this year.
An economist and professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Cerda comes to the post with more than five years of experience in public office. He worked as director of the government budget office from 2018 to 2019 and before that as the coordinator of the macroeconomy in the Finance
