Córdoba, a central province in Argentina, said Monday that it is pressing ahead with negotiations with holders of $1.7 billion in international bonds to try to avoid its first-ever default, even amid warnings that it will not be successful. The province's Finance Ministry said it held talks with bondholders over the weekend with the aim of bringing "the parties closer to an agreement that would prevent [the province] from falling into default for the first time in its history."
