Sumitomo gets go-ahead for Nufarm acquisition

Japanese chemical company Sumitomo Chemical has received permission from Brazil's antitrust agency CADE to buy the local subsidiary of Australian agricultural chemical company Nufarm, according to a statement on Friday. Nufarm agreed in September last year to sell its businesses in Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia to Sumitomo for AUD1.19 billion ($787 million) and use the money to pay down debt.
