Uruguay expects to receive $1.5 billion in credit from multilateral lenders in the next few weeks and is in talks for an additional $1 billion to help the country respond to the spread of the coronavirus, Economy Minister Azucena Arbeleche said. The minister, who took office March 1, said that out of the $1.5 billion, a special line of credit will be created to help the country deal with the outbreak of COVID-19.
