Brazil will use the money it saved on interest payments last year to fund part of a BRL120 billion ($23.8 billion) spending program to provide healthcare and supplement lost income for informal workers impacted by the coronavirus outbreak, Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said on Tuesday.
Guedes also said the government wants to add 1.2 million recipients to the social welfare program Bolsa Família and increase assistance for self-employed workers to BRL300 from BRL200 per month.
