Argentina went into a 12-day mandatory quarantine on Friday, the latest move to try to contain a spread of the coronavirus that the government warned will slam an already sour economy.
People must stay at home until March 31, President Alberto Fernández said late Thursday in a televised address.
Those who do not oblige will face "severe" punishments, he said, adding that the military, police and other security officials will monitor the streets.
