Brazilian meat company JBS said on Tuesday that it agreed to buy five production facilities and the Ledbetter brand from the US company Empire Packing for $238 million.
The acquisition includes Empire's case-ready plants in Ohio, Colorado, Tennessee and Washington, JBS said in a securities filing.
In December last year, JBS agreed to buy margarine and mayonnaise brands in Brazil from US agribusiness Bunge for BRL700 million ($161 million). Pilgrim's Pride, a US subsidiary of JBS, bought Tulip C
