Guatemala made a payment to the local subsidiary of Florida-based TECO Energy and freed up the funds to pay bondholders before the end of a 30-day grace period on December 3.
A US court had blocked the Central American nation's bank account in the United States and ordered the country to pay $35.4 million to TECO, division of the Canadian energy company Emera. Guatemala missed a $15.8 million payment on its 4.5% 2026 notes in early November.
