The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Friday that it was asked by Suriname for financial support to help it navigate through "macroeconomic vulnerabilities" while it also discusses with creditors a restructuring of its sovereign debt.
"An IMF team and the Surinamese authorities have been engaged, via video teleconferencing, in a very constructive and close dialogue. These talks are ongoing," the multilateral-lender said in a statement.
