Paraguay could issue its first green bonds to finance clean energy projects in 2021 as the government looks for ways to reactivate the economy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Finance Minister Benigno López said Wednesday.
"As you know, we co-own the largest energy company in the world, Itaipu. Itaipu is a great means to do that, to go to green bonds," López said during the Fifth Latin America Project and Infrastructure Finance Summit, organized by LatinFinance on September 30.
Country could issue notes through Itaipu and buy back bonds next year, finance minister says
