Passaredo buys rival MAP

M&A Brazil

Brazil's Passaredo Linhas Aéreas said it has acquired the competing airline MAP Linhas Aéreas for an undisclosed amount and added 12 slots at the Congonhas Airport in São Paulo.

MAP received the Congonhas slots last month when the civil aviation agency ANAC distributed the slots previously held by Avianca Brasil. Passaredo received 14 slots at the time.

Passaredo will begin flying out of Congonhas on October 27. The airline also plans to expand it operations at its base airport in Manuas and add flights to Araçatuba, Bauru, Marilia, Uberaba, Dourados, Ipatinga, Ponta Grossa and other cities by the end of the year.
