Marcel Patiño, the former head of investment banking for Colombia and Central America for Itaú BBA, has joined Santander in Bogotá, LatinFinance has heard.
Patiño spent six years at the Brazilian bank, expanding the institution's Colombian investment banking platform. In 2013, Patiño's hiring coincided with the appointment of Javier Graña as the head of investment banking for Argentina. Graña left Itaú this past spring. Prior to his tenure at Itaú, Patiño was with the US bank Citi.
Last month, Raul Schmidt, the former head of investment banking for Chile, exited Itaú to rejoin JPMorgan in Santiago.
