Mexico could open a market to trade carbon emissions later this year as the environment ministry Semarnat makes advances in preparing regulations, LatinFinance has heard.
"There is a possibility that the market could be ready this year," said Alba Aguilar, the head of new markets at the advisory firm Mexico2 in Mexico City.
"Semarnat has said it is moving ahead with drafting the rules for the pilot program and the market afterwards," she added.
