S&P Global said it has upgraded Panama's credit ratings to BBB+ from BBB after "many years of rapid GDP growth."
S&P gave the new ratings a stable outlook, saying it expects the next administration to stick with current economic policies after the general elections on May 5. It also affirmed Panama's short-term ratings at A-2.
"Following the change in administration in mid-2019, we expect continuity in key policies that have sustained investment and GDP growth for the last two decades,"
