Enel Américas, the Santiago-based subsidiary of the Italian power company Enel, has proposed a $3.5bn capital increase to finance investments and pay off debt from the acquisition of Eletropaulo in Brazil.
The company has called a shareholders meeting on April 30 to discuss the capital increase, Enel Américas said in a securities filing.
Shares in Enel Américas sank 10.3% to CLP121 ($0.19) after the announcement on Wednesday.
