Bond bankers see quiet month ahead

Debt capital markets bankers expect bond sales from Latin American issuers will remain subdued through mid-March, when the the pre-earnings quiet period for 2018 financial results draws to a close.

"It's going to be a quiet few weeks," a bond banker in New York told LatinFinance. "A lot of companies are in an earnings blackout right now and will be quiet until they report their fourth quarter numbers."

Bond deals from Brazil and Mexico have practically ground to a halt, "but we will probably see a lot of activity once the blackout is over," the banker said, noting that the Chilean pipeline is filling up.
