Peru's Kallpa Generación has signed a seven-year, $330 million loan from Scotiabank and SMBC to refinance debt, according to a source close to the deal. Samay I, a division of Kallpa, will use the proceeds to pay off a similar facility it got from HSBC, MUFG and SMBC in 2015 to fund construction of the Puerto Bravo thermoelectric power plant. Kallpa started operations at the 708 MW plant in May 2016 after $400 million in investments. The project was one of two plants, the other awarded to Engie,
