Colombia unveils renewables auction

Colombia’s Ministry of Energy and Mines will hold its first long-term renewable power auction on February 26, the ministry announced. The government will award 12-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) amounting to 11,183,000 MWh/year in electricity.  The national government is looking to create 50 MW in renewable power capacity within the next four years through the auction and hopes to create a larger capacity of 1.5GW over the long term, the ministry said.
