Brazil's Samarco said it has reached an impasse in negotiations to restructure $3.8bn in debt, adding that it may or may not resume talks in the future.
"There can be no assurance that negotiations will continue or, if they do continue, that they will result in an agreement regarding the terms of a potential transaction," Samarco said in a statement.
