Ormat Technologies said it has received the first round of financing for the Platanares geothermal power plant in Honduras with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) as the sole lender.
The Nevada-based geothermal energy company got $115m in funding from OPIC at a fixed rate of 7.02% per year for approximately 14 years. Ormat expects to close the second part of the loan for up to $10m in the first half of 2019, the company said in a press release.
