Brazil’s BNDES said it will finance up to 80% of costs for water and wastewater projects worth more than BRL20m ($6.38m).
The national development bank will base the loans on the TJLP long-term lending rate, which stands at 7% per year. The loans will have tenors of up to 20 years for water and sewage projects and up to 15 years for other sanitation projects, BNDES said in a statement.
Other financial institutions will finance sanitation projects worth less than $20m, BNDES said.
