JBIC inks first loan in Trinidad

Caribbean Trinidad & Tobago Asia Loans Project & Infrastructure Finance Bonds

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) has agreed to provide a $485.1m loan to Trinidad & Tobago’s gas provider Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL). The transaction marks JBIC's first project financing in the Caribbean country. The JBIC loan is part of a financing package backing CGCL's construction of a methanol and dimethyl ether plant at the Union Industrial Estate in southern Trinidad & Tobago. Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ is also providing roughly $208m in debt towar
