Wind Auction Pleases Despite Lower Volume

Brazil-based energy sector executives say Monday’s wind auction was a major success for the emerging renewable subsector, despite a lower than expected result for the total amount of auctioned power. Brazil energy regulator Aneel announced late Monday it had auctioned 753MW at an average price of BRL148.39 per MW/hour, a 21.5% discount to the maximum price level of BRL189.00 for the auction.
