Law Firm of the Year Andes: Garrigues

Garrigues has repeatedly shown a knack for working on some of Peru’s top capital markets deals and 2018-2019 was a particularly strong year for the firm.

The firm was involved in two award-winning deals carried out by the Peruvian government, including the sovereign issuer’s November 2018 sale of $3.06 billion in sol-denominated bonds -- the largest debt sale in local currency from an emerging country. Garrigues also advised on Peru’s June 2019 bond offering when the government obtained record-low yields in the sale of $2.5 billion in new bonds, selling $1.75 billion in sol-denominated 2034 debt at 5.4% and $750 million in dollar-denominated 2030 bonds at 2.84%.

It also worked on the bond offering from Lima Metro 2, winner of LatinFinance’s Structured Financing Deal of the Year award.

Garrigues also demonstrated its ability to work on innovative transactions, including Internet Para Todos, a joint venture involving IDB Invest, CF, Telefónica del Peru and Facebook to provide internet access to rural populations in Peru.

In the equities space, the firm advised on Intercorp’s initial public offering.
