Mergers and acquisitions involving an acquirer, target or seller from Latin American or the Caribbean have risen sharply year on year. Volume sat at $65 billon, with 645 deals in late June: nearly 35% up from the same period a year earlier, according to Dealogic data. At the same time, intra-LatAm deals were at their lowest level since 2005, standing at $22.1 billion, down 17% year on year and a sharp fall from 2010, when such transactions topped $50 billion between January 1 and June 19.
