Ebrasil Energia and Golar Power have approached the IIC for $238m in loans to fund construction of a gas-fired power plant in northeastern Brazil.
The IIC, part of the IDB Group, said it will provide long-term financing in Brazilian reais, which is not available in the market, and also funding in dollars. The IIC board is expected to decide on the loan by October 31 this year.
