Alliance Boots buys FASA


Global pharmacy operator Alliance Boots is set to take control of Farmacias Ahumada (FASA), after striking an agreement with Casa Saba, which owns 97.89% of the firm. The MXN8.3bn ($637m) acquisition of around 1,400 pharmacies in Chile and Mexico marks Alliance Boot’s first step into Latin America. Alliance Boots will launch a cash offer for all FASA shares, which trade on the Santiago stock exchange.
