Fitch upgrades Peru’s biggest banks

Fitch upgraded three of Peru’s four biggest lenders on Tuesday, pointing to an improving economy and low rates of bad loans. The agency upgraded the long-term foreign currency default ratings of Banco de Credito del Peru (BCP) and BBVA Banco Continental a notch to A-. It lifted Interbank’s rating a notch to BBB+. It held its rating on Scotiabank Peru at A-. The four banks held 84% of the system’s assets at the end of 2013. The upgrades reflected “the positive economic and regulatory environment,
