The IFC has approved a $47m loan for the La Huayca II photovoltaic solar electric generation plant in Chile’s Atacama Region. The 30.5 megawatt project sponsored by Selray Energias should cost $67m. The IFC-led syndicated loan includes $14.3m from the IFC, $18.5m from German development finance institution DEG, and $14.3m from the Canada Climate Change Program. La Huyaca expands on the 1.4 megawatt La Huayca I project and supplies Chile’s SING (Northern Interconnected Electricity) system.
